A 3% or 5% solar screen blocks the majority of heat and UV while the view through the fabric stays clear. Ideal for patio sliders and west windows facing the sunset.

What openness should I choose for a solar shade?
Lower numbers block more. 1% and 3% are best for harsh west exposures and TV glare. 5% is the popular all-around choice, and 10% keeps the most view for windows that don't get direct sun.
Do solar shades give privacy at night?
No. Like a window screen, they hide the interior in daylight but not when the lights are on inside. For bedrooms, pair them with a roller or cellular shade, or choose a dual shade.
Are cellular shades really more efficient?
Yes. The honeycomb structure creates dead air space at the glass. Double-cell shades are among the most insulating window coverings available and can noticeably reduce cooling costs on sunny exposures.
Can I get blackout for a bedroom?
Yes. Roller and cellular shades both come in true blackout fabrics, and an outside mount or side channels will eliminate the light gaps.
